Air Quality Mold Test

WHAT IS MOLD?
Mold are microscopic fungi and their spores are found in the air you breathe both indoors and outdoors. Mold spores are very tiny and lightweight. Mold spores found in indoor air can be produced by mold growing on damp or wet surfaces. Mold can grow indoors when air-conditioning ducts, walls, carpets, clothing, leather products and furniture get wet. In order for mold to grow indoors, it needs a food source (such as wood, wallboard, wallpaper, ceiling tiles, or carpet), a source of moisture and time to grow. Mold can produce and release millions of spores small enough to invade the human respiratory system. Mold growth can ruin and discolor household items. Mold growth can look white to orange and from green to brown and black. Mold can also cause expensive material damage to your home and may indicate you have a hidden water problem.

Purpose of testing for mold:

To help homeowners or prospective home buyers determine whether toxic mold or other allergens are present in the home environment.

Health Implications:

Exposure to mold is not healthy for anyone, but certain individuals (infants, children, elderly, immune-compromised patients, pregnant women, and those with existing respiratory conditions) are at higher risk for adverse health effects.  Mold exposure can cause respiratory problems, nasal congestion, skin irritation, fevers, asthma, and other health issues.

Collection Methods:

~Mold Swabs in direct contact with possible mold spores.

~Mold Strips in direct contact with possible mold spores.

~Air Sampling can indicate hidden or elevated mold problems in as little as 48 hours. This is our primary collection method. Four air samples will be taken. One sample will be taken outside of the property’s front door as a base line measurement. Three interior samples will be taken.

The Findings:

The test samples will be submitted to Pro-Lab for analysis. A complete report will be issued to you within 72 hours.
